Train Worker Hailed a Hero After Knife Rampage on London Bound Service

LNER Train Attack: Man Faces 11 Attempted Murder Charges

A British man has been remanded in custody after being charged with multiple counts of attempted murder following a mass stabbing attack on a London-bound train.

Anthony Williams, 32, was arrested moments after the LNER service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross was brought to a halt at Huntingdon station on Saturday evening.

Williams appeared in court wearing a grey prison-issued tracksuit, speaking only to confirm his name, age, and address. He was remanded in custody ahead of a pre-trial hearing at Cambridge Crown Court on December 1.

He faces 11 counts of attempted murder, one count of actual bodily harm, and two counts of possession of a bladed article. The charges relate to the London-bound LNER train attack and a separate incident earlier the same day at Pontoon Dock DLR station in east London, where a victim sustained facial injuries after being attacked with a knife.

Tracy Easton, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS Direct, said, “We worked closely with British Transport Police to review a huge volume of evidence including CCTV. The number of charges will be kept under review as this continues to progress. We know the devastating impact the events on Saturday’s train have had and how the incident shocked the entire country. Our thoughts remain with all those affected.”

Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy of British Transport Police confirmed that the investigation into the incidents remains a top priority and is exploring other potential linked offences.

The attacks left 11 people injured and prompted swift emergency response from police and medical teams. Investigators have been reviewing CCTV footage and witness statements to build a full picture of the events.
