Teen Arrested After Double Stabbing at Wigan Interchange

Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of attempted murder following two stabbings at Wigan Interchange on Wednesday, 10 September.

The teenager remains in custody as detectives continue their investigation. The victims, a 42-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy, are being treated in hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A teenage girl, also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has since been interviewed and released on bail.

Superintendent Danny O’Neil confirmed that several crime scenes remain in place around the interchange as enquiries continue. He added:
“Whilst we have made an arrest in connection with this incident, officers are still exploring several lines of enquiry. This was an isolated incident with no wider risk to the community.”

Commuters have been warned to expect delays around the interchange while investigations are ongoing. Police have thanked the public for their cooperation.
