The stronger Atlantic airflow is also expected to clear the mist and fog that have lingered in many regions over recent days.
Although the winds may prevent widespread overnight frost, some sheltered areas could still dip to freezing temperatures when skies briefly clear between weather fronts.
Snow Possible in Northern Areas
Forecasters say stronger winds may also bring wintry showers of sleet and snow to higher ground in the north of the UK.
Some hills and mountains could see accumulating snowfall, while fast-moving hail showers may occur in other parts of the country.
Brief flurries of wet snow could also reach southern areas, although it is unlikely to settle there.
Gales Expected Over Scotland
By the weekend, a developing area of low pressure may sweep across the country, bringing stronger winds.
The most severe conditions are expected across Scotland, where gusts could reach 60mph or more in exposed coastal and upland areas.
Across many other regions of the UK, wind speeds are expected to range between 40 and 50mph.
The colder air and brisk winds will make conditions feel noticeably chilly, meaning many people may need to return to heavier winter clothing.

Despite the unsettled pattern, forecasters say there will still be breaks between the passing weather systems.
