A nine-month-old baby has died following a dog attack at a home in Rogiet, Monmouthshire, Wales.
Gwent Police and paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service were called to the property on Crossway at around 6pm on Sunday. Despite their efforts, the infant was pronounced dead at the scene.
The dog involved in the incident has been seized by police and removed from the property.
Chief Superintendent John Davies of Gwent Police confirmed that an investigation is under way.
“We understand that there will be concerns around this incident, but officers are on scene and will be making further enquiries as the investigation progresses,” he said.

The Welsh Ambulance Service said it received a call at 6.02pm reporting a medical emergency in Rogiet, Caldicot.
“We sent one Cymru high acuity response unit, an advanced paramedic practitioner, a duty operations manager and one emergency ambulance. Crews were supported by our hazardous area response team,” the service said in a statement.
Police have not confirmed the breed of the dog or whether any arrests have been made.
