Man Jailed for Cruelly Advertising Ex-Girlfriend Online for Sex

A 24-year-old man who maliciously posted intimate images of his ex-girlfriend online, advertising her for sexual services, has been jailed for three-and-a-half years at Leicester Crown Court.

Victim Targeted After Relationship Breakdown

Declan Guess’s actions began after his relationship ended. He shared the victim’s name, address, and private photos on multiple websites. This led to strangers turning up at her family home, seeking sexual contact. When challenged, these visitors revealed posts online claiming the woman was available for sex.

The victim, now in her 20s, described the ordeal as terrifying and life-changing:

“Men started turning up at my family home looking for me. My name, intimate photos, and address had been put online advertising me for sex. The whole situation has caused me so much stress and upset over the years. What Declan has done has had a severe impact on my self-esteem and mental health. In many ways, it has ruined my life.”

Investigation Uncovers Further Crimes

Police investigations identified Guess as responsible for the posts. His devices contained over 500 indecent images of children, extreme pornographic material, and images depicting bestiality.

In addition to revenge porn, Guess admitted to stalking the victim and breaching a court-issued Stalking Protection Order by following her on Instagram.

PC Kate Butler of Leicestershire Police said:

“The impact these offences have had on the victim is immense. Her whole life was turned upside down. While we can’t turn back time, Guess’s guilty plea helps the victim begin to put these events behind her.”

Sentencing and Orders

In addition to his custodial sentence, Guess is subject to:

  • A sexual harm prevention order
  • A restraining order
  • Placement on the UK sex offenders register

Police also encouraged any other potential victims of Guess to come forward, assuring them of specialist support and guidance through reporting.

The Bigger Picture

This case highlights the severe emotional and legal consequences of online harassment and revenge porn. Authorities continue to emphasise the importance of reporting such offences promptly to protect victims and bring offenders to justice.
