A drug dealer has admitted attempting to crash a police car on a dual carriageway.
Charlie Storkey, aged twenty, of Beverley Road, Norwich, was being transported to Essex by officers when the car made a sudden stop on the A47 near Norwich on 6 October, Norfolk Police said.
Storkey has pleaded guilty to attempting to cause danger to road users by interfering with a motor vehicle. Charges of attempted murder following the incident have been dropped.
At Norwich Crown Court, Storkey also admitted being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin. He is due to be sentenced in February.
Norfolk Police said the incident took place on the A47 Norwich Southern Bypass, between the Trowse A146 and Ipswich Road A140 junctions.
Originally, Storkey faced two counts of attempted murder, but a Crown Prosecution Service spokesperson said that following a review there was not enough evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction, and the charges were dropped.
“We have a duty to ensure every prosecution is effective, independent, and fair,” the spokesperson said.
