Body Discovered in River Wensum Near Foundry Bridge

Police in Norwich are working to identify a man in his seventies who was found dead in the River Wensum near Foundry Bridge on Prince of Wales Road.

Officers were called to the scene at about 12:45 GMT on Tuesday following reports of a body in the water. Emergency services attended, and the man was recovered from the river but sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Norfolk Police said the man has been provisionally identified, though formal confirmation will be made by the coroner’s office in due course.

In a statement, the force said: “The death is being treated as unexplained but is not currently believed to be suspicious.”

Officers are continuing their efforts to locate and inform the man’s next of kin and have appealed to the public for any information that could assist their enquiries.
