Norfolk Man Arrested After Allegedly Setting Fire to Occupied Home

Human Remains Found in Wimblington Identified as Murder Victim Julie Buckley

Human remains discovered in a field in Wimblington have been formally identified as belonging to Julie Buckley, who was last seen alive in January.

The 55 year old from Christchurch went missing at the start of the year, sparking a major police investigation. On 15 September, Karl Hutchings, 48, of Christchurch, pleaded guilty at Cambridge Crown Court to her murder, despite her body not having been recovered at that time.

Discovery of Remains

According to Cambridgeshire Police, Hutchings’ defence team later provided information about a possible burial site. Following searches, officers located human remains in a field in Wimblington last week.

A post mortem examination has now confirmed the remains as those of Ms Buckley. However, the cause of death could not be determined.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Stott said:
“Julie’s family have been made aware of the post mortem results, which were inconclusive on the cause of death, and are being supported by specially trained officers. Our thoughts are with them at this very difficult time.”
