Worcester’s Regent Care Home Team Wins Care Team of the Year Award

The dedicated team at a Sanctuary Care home in Worcester have been named Care Team of the Year at the Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards.

Regent Residential Care Home, based in School Road, St John’s, received the accolade for their outstanding commitment to creating a vibrant, compassionate, and life-enriching environment where residents are empowered to thrive.

Celebrating the Team’s Success

Manager Paul Eccles praised his staff following the win:

“I’m immensely proud of my team – every single member of staff in every role played a part in making this happen. A life-enriching care setting is nothing without the people behind it. This team make me proud to be part of Regent Residential Care Home every single day, providing truly great care for our wonderful residents.”

Many of the team have worked at Regent for more than a decade, consistently going the extra mile to ensure residents not only feel cared for but are actively involved in shaping the way their home is run.

Resident-Led Living and Community Connections

Residents enjoy a say in their experiences, from seaside trips and dog shows to the popular Rocking Regent summer festival. The home also embraces strong community links, welcoming nursery children, volunteers, and work experience students, many of whom go on to pursue rewarding careers in care.

Staff also prioritise mental wellbeing, with six mental health first aiders and a support group for family carers in the community. Families can stay connected through a private Facebook page and WhatsApp group sharing updates and photos.

Enriching Experiences and Personal Touches

Beyond their shifts, staff often visit residents simply because of the close bonds formed. They organise unique and meaningful experiences, from animal therapy sessions featuring dogs, alpacas, and giant rabbits, to honouring individual traditions such as taking a resident to the pub for a pint, just as he did before moving into Regent.
