Man Charged After Allegedly Assaulting Six Police Officers

A man from King’s Lynn has been charged after allegedly assaulting six police officers during an incident in the town this week.

Police were called to St John’s Walk at around 7pm on Tuesday, 26 August 2025, following reports of a disturbance. Officers arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and took him to the King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre.

During the custody process, the suspect was further arrested for six separate incidents involving assaults on police officers, which allegedly included biting, spitting and punching.

The man has been identified as Lee Chapman, aged 30, of Blackfriars Road, King’s Lynn. He has been charged with one count of being drunk and disorderly, one count of attempted grievous bodily harm on a police officer and five counts of assaulting a police officer.

Chapman was remanded in custody and appeared before Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 28 August 2025. While the drunk and disorderly charge was withdrawn, the remaining charges have been sent for trial. He is next due to appear in court on 25 September 2025 and will remain in custody until that date.
