Telford Named One of the Best Places to Live in the UK

A town in Shropshire that is sometimes overlooked when discussing the best places to live in the Midlands has been named one of the top locations in the UK in a new national study.

Telford has been ranked second in a quality of life assessment compiled by Online-Casinos.com, placing just behind Harrogate in North Yorkshire.

The study evaluated a range of factors, including access to green spaces, cleanliness, safety levels and overall happiness among residents. Telford performed strongly across these categories, with particular praise for its peaceful environment and relatively low population density.

With around 675 residents per square kilometre, the town is considerably less crowded than many urban areas included in the report. Researchers noted that lower population pressure, combined with good environmental conditions, contributed significantly to its high ranking.

Although it may not immediately be seen as one of the region’s standout destinations, Telford benefits from its surrounding countryside and proximity to popular outdoor attractions, including The Wrekin, a well known walking spot. The town sits between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury and is conveniently located near the M54, offering strong road and rail connections to Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.

It is also recognised for its town centre shopping facilities, public parks and attractions such as Priorslee Lake.

The study compared Telford with other well known towns, noting that while some areas scored highly for green space alone, factors such as lower density and reduced strain on local infrastructure played an important role in overall liveability.

Experts involved in the analysis said the findings highlight that quality of life is not determined by green space alone, but also by how crowded a location is and how well it manages safety and cleanliness.

The results place Telford firmly among the most desirable places to live in the country, offering a balance of accessibility, community feel and natural surroundings.
