UK households will wake up to free £120 Cost of Living payments before Sunday

Leeds Residents Eligible for Free Cost of Living Payment Next Sunday

Leeds households will receive free Cost of Living payments of up to £120 by Sunday, November 30, under the Household Support Fund, the city council has confirmed.

The payments, delivered as Post Office vouchers, are for residents in receipt of Council Tax Support as of 13 October 2025. Claimants with dependent children will receive £120, while those without children will get £55. The award will be based on existing Council Tax Support records.

Leeds City Council said it will contact all eligible residents directly to confirm the payments.

The Household Support Fund, extended by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in October 2024, provides an additional £742 million to local authorities in England to assist residents with food, energy, and essential household costs. The funding will run from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026 and includes allocations for the Devolved Governments via the Barnett formula.

Leeds City Council added that the funding will also support emergency assistance schemes and community organisations across the district, helping vulnerable residents with energy bills, food supplies, and household items. Residents in need can contact the Local Welfare Support Scheme at 0113 376 0330.
