Epstein Used Naomi Campbell’s Name to Impress, Files Suggest

The documents, made public as part of the latest tranche of Epstein-related disclosures, indicate that Epstein was invited to Campbell’s 40th birthday celebration in Cannes in 2010, less than a year after completing a 13-month prison sentence for soliciting prostitution from a minor. An email invitation reportedly described the event as a private gathering for her “closest friends and family.”

Campbell’s lawyer, Martin Singer, told The New York Times that the model did not personally compile the guest list and that Epstein did not attend the Cannes party.

Later that year, Epstein was invited to a Paris event hosted by fashion house Dolce & Gabbana to celebrate Campbell’s 25-year career. According to her legal team, Epstein attended briefly with Ghislaine Maxwell and left after approximately 20 minutes.

Emails released in the files also suggest that in 2016 Campbell sought to travel on Epstein’s private jet. Her representatives acknowledged she flew on his aircraft on a few occasions but said she never witnessed any inappropriate conduct.

The model’s name appears more than 250 times in emails and FBI victim interview summaries, though many references are duplicates. Campbell has not been accused of any wrongdoing, and her lawyers stress that any use of her name by Epstein to gain credibility or recruit young women was done without her knowledge or consent.

According to victim interview transcripts, one complainant alleged that Epstein invoked Campbell’s name to promise modelling opportunities, including with Victoria’s Secret, and claimed to know her personally. Court documents previously cited by the late Virginia Giuffre also state that Epstein introduced her to Campbell at a birthday party in 2001.

Campbell’s lawyers maintain she was unaware of Epstein’s broader criminal conduct before his 2019 arrest and would have taken action had she known of any abuse. They added that she lived in Moscow between 2008 and 2013 and did not know Epstein was a registered sex offender during that period.

Epstein was arrested in 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges and later died in custody.
