Buckinghamshire Care Homes Celebrate Transfer to OSJCT

The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) has officially welcomed 1,300 employees from The Fremantle Trust as part of a major merger completed earlier this year. The transfer, which took effect on Monday 1 September 2025, marks a significant step in OSJCT’s expansion and commitment to delivering high quality care services across Buckinghamshire and beyond.

A Milestone for OSJCT and The Fremantle Trust

The merger, finalised in February 2024, strengthens OSJCT’s position as one of the largest not for profit care providers in the UK. The organisation now operates 75 care homes, eight extra care housing schemes for older people, and 16 learning disability services across several regions.

OSJCT has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care, ensuring that residents continue to receive the same compassion, comfort, and support they have always enjoyed.

Celebrations Mark a New Beginning

To mark the transfer, care homes and learning disability services across Buckinghamshire hosted special celebrations for residents and colleagues. Events began with a video message from OSJCT CEO Dan Hayes OBE and a screening of “A Real Home”, a short film showcasing OSJCT’s rich history and values.

Home managers and senior leaders gave speeches to welcome the new colleagues, followed by live entertainment, karaoke sessions, and refreshments. These events symbolised a shared commitment to care excellence and reflected the core values uniting both organisations.

CEO Dan Hayes Welcomes New Colleagues

Speaking about the milestone, Dan Hayes OBE, Chief Executive of OSJCT, said:

“We are delighted to welcome 1,300 colleagues from our Buckinghamshire services, formerly known as The Fremantle Trust, as we come together as one organisation. United, our teams now manage 75 care homes, eight extra care schemes, and 16 learning disability services.

“This is a proud moment for us all as we celebrate the dedication, compassion, and teamwork that continue to make a real difference in so many lives.”

The integration marks a new chapter for both organisations, enhancing their capacity to meet growing care demands while continuing to prioritise the wellbeing and happiness of residents.
