An Investigative Report into Predatory Lending, Property Seizure, and the Exploitation of the Elderly
A Trust Betrayed: The Real Story Behind Care Help UK Ltd
At face value, Care Help UK Ltd presents itself as a trusted healthcare company. With its official address listed as Lincoln House Care Home, and a name that suggests compassion and public service, it projects an image of commitment to supporting vulnerable people. However, a closer investigation uncovers a starkly different reality, one that reveals disturbing financial practices, alleged exploitation of the elderly, and a misuse of authority at the highest level.
At the center of this unfolding controversy is Dr Sanjay Kaushal, a well-known Norfolk-based doctor and care home owner. Publicly, Dr Kaushal appears as a compassionate and respectable healthcare professional, someone who has built a reputation for caring for the elderly, speaking eloquently on issues of health and dignity, and sitting on the boards of key care associations such as the Norfolk Care Association.

But behind the reassuring title of “doctor” and the appearance of empathy lies a deeply concerning truth, our investigation reveals that Dr Kaushal was a director of Care Help UK Ltd, a company that does not provide healthcare services at all. Instead, it is involved in high-interest lending, aggressive property acquisition, and questionable financial arrangements involving elderly individuals. While his public persona suggests a man of principle and care, his activities behind closed doors point to someone who has allegedly used his position and influence to facilitate financially predatory practices targeting the vulnerable.
This contradiction between image and action is critical. The very figure entrusted with safeguarding the wellbeing of elderly people appears to have orchestrated transactions that led to property loss, fear, and long-term psychological distress, and yet, no response or explanation has been given, not from Dr Kaushal himself, nor from the industry bodies with which he remains affiliated to.
What follows is a detailed investigation into one such case, where a 96-year-old woman lost her home after receiving a £411,750 loan under deeply suspicious circumstances, raising serious concerns about financial abuse, professional misconduct, and a potential cover-up within the care sector.

A Predatory Loan Disguised as Emergency Help
One of the most alarming incidents linked to Care Help UK Ltd involves a 96-year-old woman who, in September 2019, reportedly approached Dr Kaushal for financial assistance. What followed was not help, but a loan of £411,750, a staggering amount for someone of her age secured against her residential property.
Dr Kaushal claimed the elderly woman required urgent funding and intended to sell her home. Yet this justification collapses under scrutiny. The arrangement bears the hallmarks of financial exploitation, with significant ethical and legal red flags.
Key questions arise:
- Why would a woman nearing 100 years of age require such a substantial loan?
- Was she offered legal or financial advice prior to signing the agreement?
- Were family members, social services, or any independent advocate involved?
- Were more appropriate alternatives like equity release or publicly supported assistance even explored?
- And crucially, did the woman have full mental capacity to understand what she was entering into?
The interest charged only deepens suspicion. Over 18 months, the loan accrued £146,612.12 in interest, ballooning her debt far beyond what she could reasonably repay. This predatory interest rate placed her at grave financial risk and ultimately led to the loss of her only asset: her home.

From Debt to Displacement: A Life in Fear
Following the foreclosure of her home, the elderly woman’s situation reportedly worsened. According to individuals familiar with the case, she was intimidated and harassed after the takeover of her property, allegedly by associates connected to Dr Kaushal.
Living in fear, she began moving from place to place, never staying long in one location. Witnesses say she was traumatized, anxious, and overwhelmed, her independence stripped away in her final years.
This is not just a case of financial overreach. It is a story marked by coercion, fear, and the erosion of dignity in the final years of a vulnerable individual’s life. What was presented as emergency help became a predatory arrangement that left a once independent woman displaced, anxious, and silenced.

Industry Silence: A Cover Up in Plain Sight?
As part of our investigation, our team reached out to both the National Care Association and the Norfolk Care Association, two influential industry bodies where Dr Sanjay Kaushal is listed as a board member
We posed direct questions regarding:
- Was the board or any member aware of this case or Dr Kaushal’s prior financial dealings?
- Has any internal assessment or review been undertaken in light of these allegations?
- What is the Association’s stance on issues involving the financial exploitation of vulnerable elderly individuals?
Not a single reply was received.
The complete lack of response from these organisations, despite their stated missions to protect vulnerable adults and uphold standards in the care sector, raises critical concerns. Their silence suggests one of two possibilities: willful ignorance or quiet complicity.

At minimum, it implies a lack of transparency. At worst, it could point to an industry-wide reluctance to confront wrongdoing, especially when it involves high-profile individuals in positions of power.
This is not just a story of one elderly woman’s financial devastation. It is a chilling reminder of what can happen when the care sector is exploited for personal gain. Individuals like Dr Sanjay Kaushal, cloaked in professional respectability, can use their positions of trust to orchestrate financial arrangements that devastate lives while regulators, industry bodies, and colleagues look the other way.
Until there is meaningful oversight, predatory behaviour will continue to thrive behind the mask of care.
