Celebrating Broadland’s Unique Past
Cllr Caroline Karimi-Ghovanlou, Chair of Broadland District Council, praised the festival for its role in preserving and celebrating local history:

Event Highlights in Broadland
This year’s festival promises a wide range of experiences for history lovers, families, and curious explorers alike. Key highlights include:

- Blickling Hall Architecture Tour – Discover the architectural secrets of this Jacobean masterpiece with an external tour exploring 400 years of history.
- The Red Cross in Thorpe St Andrew Walk – A guided tour exploring four WWI auxiliary hospitals, including the fascinating story of Coonoor at 151 Yarmouth Road.
- Girl Guides Secret Army Exhibition, Coltishall – Learn about the Guide International Service and its post-war relief work across Europe and Asia.
- Roman Relics & Mini Metal Detecting, Aylsham Heritage Centre – Examine Roman finds from the Woodgate Nursery dig and try your hand at detecting ancient coins.
- Aylsham Shop Window Trail & Architecture Hunt – Discover the town’s past through shopfront displays and a fun architectural treasure trail.
- Angels, Flyers and Towers Walk, Haveringland Church – A 6.5-mile scenic walk visiting four historic churches, exploring their architectural evolution.
- History Mystery Walk, Aylsham Heritage Centre – Take part in an interactive historical whodunnit tour (pre-booking required).
- RAF Coltishall Heritage Centre Tours, Badersfield – Join a guided convoy tour of this Cold War station and get up close to a Jaguar aircraft.
